How to Set Yourself Apart in Your Niche

As you research and choose your business niche, you’re looking at what’s popular and also considering the competition. In general, choosing a niche with low competition is a good idea. However, if you choose a niche that is already somewhat saturated, one strategy you can use to tackle that niche is to be authentic. People don’t just buy products from brands that offer good deals. They buy from brands they feel personally connected to.

Many niches are inundated with businesses that do all the right things in terms of SEO and marketing, but they lack the human touch. You can differentiate yourself even in a somewhat crowded niche by reaching your audience on a personal level.

The key to authenticity is to be in touch with your core values. You make a personal connection when people know these values and relate to them. What is the original “why” behind what you’re doing? Who do you want to serve and why? Identify this and make it a central part of your marketing.

You can also be authentic by focusing on your audience and solving their problems. Try to foster two-way communication so that you can learn about and understand them. Create opportunities to interact authentically. You should be like a helpful friend, offering your experience and expertise.

Try to create a community around your brand. Give your audience a place to hang out together and hold discussions. Provide this venue for them.

Use stories to give yourself authenticity. Tell your brand story, how you started and what initially got you into the niche. Essentially, just be yourself. Focus on helping people and worry about profits and growing your business later.

This is how you make an authentic connection and separate yourself from others in your niche.

To your success!
