Are you having trouble deciding on the right business niche? Finding something you're passionate about and that your target audience is interested in is the winning formula. Identify the problems your audience is facing and offer them a solution through your content and products or services. One of the most effective ways to do this is through objective data from your target market. Look at what your audience is discussing online and find out what you can do to help.

Where do you go for this information? Here are ten places to conduct research and check what your target market is talking about so you can find the perfect business niche.

Blogs

Search for blogs in your areas of interest and check out what people are writing about. Then, browse the comments of popular blogs to see what readers are saying and asking.

Keyword Search

Utilize Google's free Keyword Planner tool to find the most popular keywords. You can not only determine the popularity of your ideas, but also get suggested terms to consider. Look for keywords with at least 1,000 exact-match searches a month and have low competition in Google.

YouTube Videos

Search YouTube for videos on your topic and see what you find. You'll see videos on your topic with viewer comments and also sub-topics that could be profitable niche ideas for you.

Social Media

Social media offers a wealth of information. Look at what people are discussing related to your ideas or topic. See whom people are following and what content they're liking, sharing, or engaging with.

Community Forums

Sites like Quora and Reddit are excellent places to get niche ideas. Community forums are where people ask advice, discuss their interests, passions, issues, concerns, and ask questions.

Look at Products

Research online marketplaces, such as Etsy, for products you might sell. If you identify something your target market needs, you can create your niche based on that product or product type.

Online Reviews

Product reviews are a great place to get ideas for your niche. Also, look at review blogs and customer reviews in online marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay

The Competition

Research online to see who else is in the niche, what content they're producing, and what they're offering. You'll get ideas on what's popular, but also learn about what's already out there so you can set yourself apart.

Television

Turn on the TV and see what's on. Watch the news for trending topics. You might find something timely or a problem many people are facing that you could tackle.

Check the Calendar

What major holidays or events are approaching? Sometimes a highly timely niche might be found that is related to a specific time of year or seasonal event.

EndNote

The best practice for determining your niche is to start with the things you're passionate about. Next, conduct the above research to assess the interests and needs of your target market. Then, evaluate whether your niche ideas are potentially profitable or not. Finally, brainstorm an extensive list and narrow it down until you've found the one that will work for you.
